The "dcLa sessions" project has been taking shape since I met Livio Almeida, which happened somewhere around Fall of 2004 in Brasilia. Playing with Livio is ... how can I describe ... incredible! There is always a great musical connection happening, which not only us but others also recognize. Starting a project together seemed so obvious, that, when the opportunity was given to us, we decided to work on a record that would feature some of Livio's compositions, some of my compositions, and 1 song composed by both of us, which we named "Pieces," which also became the title of our first album.

Choosing the other musicians for this project was another important aspect. We obviously needed people that would make our music sound great, but mostly we needed musicians with amazing energy, that, when combined with ours, would take "dcLa sessions" to another level. After the first session with Jakub Cichocki (piano), Ian Stapp (bass), and Allan Mednard (drums), we both had big smiles on our faces. We knew those were the missing "pieces" that we were looking for, if you know what I mean.
